Monica Epperson is co-founder and CEO of The Child of Divorce, a nonprofit dedicated to mitigating the negative effects of divorce on children.  Epperson and other members on the board of this non-profit are developing researched-based programs and on-line divorce resources for teachers and students. The Child of Divorce also has donated books dealing with divorce to numerous school libraries.

Epperson, a former teacher and a child of divorce herself, delivers a compelling message to audiences on behalf of children of divorce by drawing on her classroom and personal experiences.

Selected audiences she has addressed include Owasso (Okla.) Rotary Club, Broken Arrow (Okla.) Chamber of Commerce, Bethel College (Kan.), Choteau (Okla.) Public School Teachers, Union (Okla.) Public School Counselors, Broken Arrow (Okla.) Rotary Club, and Leadership Broken Arrow (Okla.).

Epperson is also an author, creating stories of children who navigate and overcome the hurt of divorce. Her first work entitled A Heart with Two Homes was published in 2008 while her latest book Bounce hit the market in December 2011.

Prior to her work with children of divorce, Epperson taught fifth and second grade as well as kindergarten.  Her time in the classroom validated her suspicions that children of divorce remain in desperate need of resources and attention.

Epperson earned her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Okla.  She is an avid researcher and continues to grow in her understanding of child development through on-line resources and her work with representatives from Laureate, a psychiatric hospital in the Tulsa area.

Epperson and her husband Brian reside in Tulsa, Okla., with their daughter Eden.  Together, the family is heavily involved in their community and church and share a sincere love of Oklahoma Sooner football.
